Yellow Boat Music's Paul Cartledge Works on Blue Peter COP26 Spot
Yellow Boat Music's Paul Cartledge (PC) has recently worked on music production support and engineered the music mix for the Blue Peter COP26 Our Planet Now Competition. The competition called for young voices to write an outstanding piece highlighting the effects to their future with climate change and to captivate the imagination of people all over the globe, to encourage our political leaders to protect our planet now.
The winning story comes to life in this beautiful film created by Aardman Animations, with music from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, with the final mix done by Paul Cartledge of Yellow Boat Music.
Paul who was brought on board by the conductor David Arnold, who worked on the piece with the composer Paul Hart, was enlisted to help with technical backup during the demo phase, and asked to attend the recording session with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales to provide music production support.
PC said: "It was such an incredible experience. The power and emotional beauty of the orchestra was stunning. The Aardman team who created the animation and Delphine, the 8 year old competition winner whose story was chosen as the message that was sent to COP26, were in the hall during the recording, and we all found it very inspiring. After the session I worked on pre-mixes, and then invited David Arnold into Yellow Boat’s Soho studio for the final mix.
"It was absolutely fantastic to work on such a wonderful composition, with great animation and with such a poignant message from a generation who are really going to suffer if we don't get to grips with climate change. Everybody involved with the project put in a great effort and I really hope the world leaders feel inspired to work harder once they’ve seen it!"
