Mr. President Gives the PG Tips Monkey Lockdown Hair to get Brands Advertising Outdoors
Global, the Media and Entertainment group, has launched a new outdoor advertising campaign starring PG Tips’ iconic brand mascot ‘Monkey’.
The new B2B campaign featuring Monkey sporting a huge beard instead of its usual clean-shaven look and the line ‘Been Stuck Indoors Too Long? It’s time to get your brand back advertising outdoors’ aims to encourage brands to reconnect with their audiences as footfall and traffic return.
Monkey’s ‘lockdown look’ runs across Global’s high impact digital estate - which is the biggest in the UK and includes iconic sites such as Holborn Eye and Hammersmith Towers - this week in line with easing of restrictions nationwide and the re-opening of pubs and restaurants outdoors, non-essential shops, self-catering holidays, hairdressers, salon and gyms in England.
Adam Johnson, chief marketing officer at Global said: “We know that there’s a huge desire to get back outside and return to some kind of normality – going to the hairdressers, the gym and meeting up with friends. To celebrate, we wanted to bring back the iconic PG Tips Monkey after months in lockdown, during which he’s clearly faced the same issues as the rest of us! As audiences bounce back, we are delighted that PG Tips have partnered with us on this fun message to our advertisers.”
The campaign was created by Mr President. Jon Gledstone, partner and ECD at Mr. President said: “Lockdown has been easy to spot on all of us - by giving the PG Tips Monkey the same unkempt beard that we see on all of our zoom calls, we hope to remind brands that now is the time to get back out there.”
Charlotte Ridley, marketing manager at PG Tips said: “We loved this idea encouraging everyone – even Monkey - to get outdoors again. Outdoor advertising is a brand safe and influential media which we’re looking forward to leveraging again to re-connect with people as we hopefully return to some kind of normality.”
